Playoffs are here! We got the second season underway this past Tuesday with 2 quarter final matchups that will see each winner move onto a semi final matchup next week. It is now where
we find out who is ready to perform under pressure, and who will wilt under it.here is a look at the quarter final matchups that went down.

New Era (3) 79 Vs. Regeneration X (6) 75
Regeneration X came out with a purpose from the jump, looking to redeem a lackluster regular season by making some noise against a New Era team poised to contend. Regen had found a rhythm with a more balanced offensive attack near the end of the season, and carried it into this game as they had 4 players in double figures. However, New Era were not to be denied.
They led majority of the time in this game and despite letting Regen hang around, were able to pull out the win. A massive game from Isaiah Ankrah helped, but it was their ability to control
the pace, timely stops to disrupt momentum and the glass (+13) that ultimately proved too much for Regen.

Sharks (4) 64 Vs. Gladiators (5) 51
Two scrappy teams faces off in our second game as Gladiators took on Sharks in an intense matchup. Sharks are a proven team in the playoffs on Tuesdays, having reaches a semi or final 3 straight seasons (1 chip) so this was a stiff test for the Gladiators. The Sharks dominated the undersized Gladiators on the glass all night (44-33) and used that to fuel their methodical offensive approach with second and third chances. Gladiators were not hitting from deep, which is crucial for them and it cost them. They played hard until the end despite not having their best game but just could not handle the collective size of the Sharks.

Kings Of The Court
These are the guys who rose to the occasion when their team needed it most in the playoffs.

Here are the Kings Of The Court for the Quarter Finals:
Akai Nettey Regeneration X – 19 Pts 5 Reb 2 Ast
Isaiah Ankrah New Era – 30 Pts 9 Reb 7 Ast 4 Stl
Vadim Razenberg Sharks – 16 pts 10 Reb

Delly Thomas Gladiators – 11 Pts 4 Reb 4 Ast
Alim Kamara New Era – 10 Pts 9 Reb 3 Ast

Semi-Finals Preview
Here is a look at our Semi Final matchups that will take place next week. All but one (Toon Squad) of the remaining teams have won this division in the last 5 seasons so we should see
some intense games. Here are the matchups:

Toon Squad (1) Vs. Sharks (4)
Toon Squad have been playing more like the Monstars up until this point, steamrolling their way to the top of the division in convincing fashion during the season. They will have to deal
with a gritty, hard nosed Sharks team that is hungry to get back to the finals after falling short twice since winning their chip. The key matchup will be between Karl Frederick and Samy Mohammed. Both guards are a focal point offensively for their teams, and can put up big scoring numbers when hot. Samy has been having a great season to date, so look for Karl to come out hungry to prove himself against another top guard in the division. The defensive glass will be important for both teams as well given how well each team rebounds offensively. It will be crucial for both teams to try and limit those second chances, as they each get a tonne of
them.

Hong Shing (2) Vs. New Era (3)
Returning champions Hong Shing will officially begin their defence in a semi final matchup with a New Era team that has gotten on track at the right time. New Era is led by dynamic guards
Ankrah and Isaac, who will need to find a balance between scoring and setting their teammates up. It worked well in the quarters, but against a stiff defence like Hong Shing it will be critical for their success. Hong Shing have righted the ship after a mid season slump, and will hope that their hot 3 Pt shooting will continue into the playoffs. They have been prone to giving up big runs at different points in the season, so staying locked in defensively against this dangerous New Era team will be the key for them.
