Week 5 action went down on this past Tuesday in scorching conditions. We had 2 solid games that both were competitive from the opening tip. We also saw Hong Shing drop their 2nd in a row via a forfeit, a shock for a team that had only lost 1 of its previous 14games. Here is a recap of the game action:

7pm – Toon Squad (3-1) 60 Vs. Regeneration (0-4) 47

This game was a back and forth affair for the majority of the 44 minutes played. Regeneration started off a bit slow, but began to play with a sense of purpose not seen yet from them on the year. They had some great ball movement and were rebounding well despite being outsized. However, Toon Squad are such a deep and talented team that they can hurt you in so many ways. They out it together late with some timely steals and converted in transition. They now sit atop the division and have looked like a threat to contend all season.

8 pm – New Era (3-1) 20 Vs. Hong Shing (2-2) 0

Hong Shing were not able to out 5 players on the floor and had to forfeit the game. New Era have now moved into a tie for 1st place on the season due to this win.

9pm – Gladiators (3-2) 57 Vs. Sharks (3-2) 52

In a hotly contested matchup that saw no team take more than an 11 pt lead, the Gladiators were able to hunt down the Sharks for the win. Gladiators were putting on a show offensively hitting some tough shots all night. Despite being outrebounded by 16, Gladiators were able to control the flow of the game and get the shots they wanted all night. Sharks did not have their usual shooting game across the board, and missed a chance to capitalize on a big size advantage in this one. That is probably due to the absence of Dan Bederman, although Christian Coldeo did fill his role admirably with a week 5 high 16 rebounds.
