On Point Recap - Quarter-Finals

It was an excellent night of games from beginning to the end. To kick off the night, Boom got off to a solid start going into half-time up by 1 over the Top Boys. However, in the 2nd half, the Top Boys turned it up. Despite having only 5 players dressed, the Top Boys were able to upset the #2 seeded Boom with a 76-73 win. Orlando Paul (who I predicted would go off) went for 34 points with big man Dwayne Morrison looking like prime Dwight Howard finishing with 22-21. It’s a shocker for veteran GM Duane Pedro, but as always, he’ll be back and he’ll always contend.

In the 2nd game, no upset here as Classick rolled to their 9th consecutive win. It’s the same story as it’s been all season. No one needs to score 20+ for this team to win, they truly win as a team. In this game everyone contributed and they shot just shy of 50%. Mohamed Mahdi led with 17 and for One Ten, Craig Hanson had 12-12. For OneTen, season 1 is done and we look forward to seeing GM Mark Ramos back in the summer.

In the 3rd game, it was the THI show led by the Cruz bros and Rookie Jamoi Smith. Smith shot an efficient 11-15 from the field while also picking up 10-3-3. Both Mike & Nick Cruz scored 16 apiece. THI offense was simply too much for Crane. It was an up and down season for GM Willy Phan who had the balls to trade the #1 pick. We’ll look forward to seeing Willy back in the summer.

In the Final game, neither team could find a rhythm offensively but Grind Time, literally grinded it out. The big difference was their three point shooting and Swish Squad’s struggles from deep. Grind Time was +8 and that’s the game right there. Drummond with 25-10 and Hospedales with 18-13. Khan was very impressive in the loss scoring 20 on 10/12 and pulling down 12 boards. Tough season for GM Preston Singh after such a great start. Just like everyone else, we look forward to seeing him back again.
