#8 – The Next Generation of MB

The next gen is here. Over the last few years, many star players who were dominant back in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 are now battling father time and the high kilometres are starting to catch up. Of course, there are a few exceptions, but for the most part, the face of the league is beginning to change. We’ve seen young guns like Philip Da Silva, Shane Bennett, Reggie Williams, Erwin Zapanza, just to name a few really show they can not only hang with the best, but also beat the best. We’ve seen many young players come into this league and use this league as a platform to showcase their skills. If you’re a young kid and you’re reading this, if you’re serious about the game, put in the work, take advantage of the platform and opportunities may just come your way. I’ve seen it happen too many times to count over my 8 years of running the league.

#7 – Continued Successes Overseas

It seems like more and more we see our players getting opportunities overseas. Recently, Owen Graham one of our rising stars in the league was selected #1 overall in the PBA D-League Draft. You may remember him from hitting one of the greatest shots in our leagues history. Now he’s a million miles away inches from his dream. WOW!

#6 – The New On Point Uniforms

Black. Red. White. I can’t wait to see em! (Everyone is buying kicks to match!)

#5 – The Alumni League

We’ve kept this close to our chest, but I think it’s a great time to start having the conversation. Back in the day I’d say between 2009-2011, we were still relatively new to the basketball scene and many of you took a leap of faith and joined our league. For the most part, players who played in 2009-2011 no longer can make a commitment to play in the league especially with the talent level only getting better and age (of course) not getting any younger. We are currently building a league exclusive to the people who helped us start it. Yes, exclusive! Stay tuned for news on the Alumni League or feel free to msg @chrisbtopher.

#4 – No Clear Cut Champion

From Mil St to Advanced, there is no team that has truly dominated season after season after season. There was a time when teams such as SWAT, LINT, Toben, Bugatti Boys, Boom, Sunnybrook and others who took the claim of being the most dominant in Megacity, but going into 2018, no team can say that. Let’s see if a clear cut champion will rise in 2018.

#3 – The Combo Guards @comboguards

Mannnnnn, this duo has been putting in work all year. I’m so proud of what they’ve done so far, but it is only the beginning for Adrian & Troy AKA The Combo Guards. They’ve been putting in work consistently firing out great podcasts and as a result, opportunities are starting to come their way. I’m so excited for what these guys have in store for 2018. I want to also thank all the great people who have taken time to join the podcast. Without you guys, they won’t be where they are today!

#2 – Megacity Basketball Youth League

RJ’s dream is so close to coming true. RJ has always desired to build a Megacity Basketball Youth League and it’s now a real thing. Make sure to get your kid signed up or e-mail youth@megacitybasketball.com for more information.

#1 – The New Website

We have always wanted to give our players the best possible off the court experience and finally after years of work we have a new website! It’s mobile friendly, has full functionality and laundry list of possibilities to enhance every players experience. Expect improvement little by little over the course of the year to bring you the absolute best!

On behalf of the Megacity Basketball team, Happy New Year and all the best to you in 2018!
