Four teams remain as we head into semi-final action this Sunday at the Waterfront Neighbourhood Centre. The Trojans take on Myodetox at 7:00 PM.

The Trojans took a tight win over Eye Studio last week while Myodetox proved why they are the #1 seed by easily dismantling Practice?! This will be an interesting game as both teams have a good mix of veterans and young legs.

At 8:20 PM the Vipers take on Superclub. Jerome Brown erupted for 25 points to lead his team to the semis while scoring champion Andrew Motta did what he does best and scored 35 points to lead Superclub to a W.

Game of the Night:

This weeks GOTN will be semi-final matchup #1 between the Trojans and Myodetox. Milton Laidley, Justin Radam, and Ancil Martin combined for 58 of the Trojans’ 67 points last week on 59% shooting. Myodetox has a more well-balanced offense, with guys like Phil Aglipay and Niko Carino who can explode at any moment, but they also have guys like Mike Semira and Duane Watson who do the dirty work and clean-up down low.

This game will be won on the defensive end. Both teams play with a lot of passion and emotion, which at times can be a negative, so ultimately, cooler heads will prevail.

Players to Watch:

Andrew Morris (Trojans): Morris is a high IQ player who is arguably the best distributor in the division. He knows when and where his teammates like to get the ball but will also burn you if you play off him. Look for him to control the pace in his matchup.

Rory Ruglass (Myodetox): Ruglass’ play style is reminiscent of Tim Duncan at the tail end of his career. They both are great rim protectors and have solid up-and-under footwork in the post. Ruglass will need to be a menace to a Trojans team that likes to play inside out.

Oron Miraie (Superclub): Miraie had a solid game last week, scoring 23 points and grabbing 9 rebounds. He will need to have another stellar performance as he gets a tough matchup in Sime Baricevic.

Matt McKinney (Vipers): McKinney is the glue that holds the Vipers together. He doesn’t force shots, likes to get his teammates involved, and is an all-around hustle guy. He won’t light up the scoreboard like some of his teammates do, but he does all the little things that you don’t see on the stat sheet that do make all the difference.
